Hey there fun people !!!

I keep a close eye on all governmental issues as well as any notifications that effect family business.  (In fact I was just in attendance at a Congressional Hearing on Small Business loans)

I just received this information from Gov.Benefits.gov and I felt that it is so important that I wanted to share this with you.  Be sure to visit and join the Family Business Chamber of Commerce at www.familybusinesscc.com

Our American Farms and those involved in the agriculture industry (ALMOST 100% are Family Businesses) are an iatrical part of what keeps our country going.  Remember that everything we eat, the milk we drink all comes from our farmers.   Our Family Business brothers and sisters.

America’s farmers often depend on the kindness of Mother Nature, but she isn’t always so friendly. Extreme weather and other natural disasters that devastate crops during peak season can put farmers’ livelihoods at stake.

GovBenefits.gov is here to help. If you are a farmer or rancher in need of assistance, take a look at the following programs offered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture that may help you get through a difficult season.

Crop Insurance - Crop Insurance protects agricultural producers against crop losses resulting from natural causes. The program, administered by USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA), offers several different plans for crops and livestock. Availability of these crop policy plans varies by state and county.

Emergency Farm Loans - The emergency loan program aims to help family farmers recover from losses resulting from natural disasters. These loans, not exceeding $500,000, can be used to repair or replace buildings or other structures, purchase livestock and equipment, pay essential farm operating and family living expenses, repair or replace essential household contents damaged in the disaster or refinance debt.

Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program - The Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) provides financial assistance to eligible producers affected by natural disasters. This Federally funded program covers noninsurable crop losses and planting prevented by disasters.

Farm Ownership Loans (Direct and Guaranteed) - The Farm Service Agency (FSA) makes farm ownership (FO) loans to farmers and ranchers who temporarily cannot obtain a loan from a bank, Farm Credit System institution, or other lender due to disaster and financial hardship. FSA also makes loans to beginning farmers. FO loans can be used to purchase a farm or ranch, construct buildings or make other real estate improvements. These loans also promote soil and water conservation and loan closing costs.

To find out if you are eligible for these or other available programs, take the GovBenefits.gov confidential questionnaire.  If you have been affected by a Presidentially declared disaster, visit DisasterAssistance.gov to find out which disaster related forms of assistance you may be eligible to receive.

Till next time
